Matt Stewart

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Matt Stewart is currently the Head Golf Professional for the Nicklaus Course at Colleton River Plantation Club.  Prior to joining Colleton River, Matt worked at Sage Valley Golf Club located just outside of Augusta, Georgia, as well as Ocean Forest Golf Club, located on famed Sea Island, Georgia and two facilities in his native North Carolina, Treyburn Country Club in Durham and Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro.  In high school in North Carolina, Matt was a "3A" state champion before heading to Greensboro, NC to play Division 1 golf for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Matt has been in and around the golf industry since he was 15 and has been involved with the PGA of America since 2000.  In June of 2004, Matt gained his membership to the PGA of America.  Matt has played competitive golf since his high school days and notched victories in college and amateur golf as well as three Pro-Am victories and other top finishes in PGA section events since turning pro in 2000.  Matt has been taught by Jimmy Hamilton, former Carolinas' Teacher of the Year as well as Top 100 instructors, Jack Lumpkin and Todd Anderson, from the Sea Island Golf Learning Center.

Matt currently lives on Hilton Head and when not working, can be found on the driving range working on his own game, at the gym trying to stay in shape or somewhere watching golf or Tennessee Football on TV. Matt has been teaching students of all levels since his college days and is currently working on his Colleton River Golf Academy certification.
