An ideal way to appreciate natureThe northwest boundary of Colleton River plantation is situated on a bluff overlooking the Colleton River, a tidal-controlled estuary full of salt marshes, tidal creeks and islands. As a tidal river, the Colleton enjoys a countless variety of saltwater species that migrate in from the Atlantic Ocean through Port Royal Sound. Boating is a popular pastime; or members can fish, crab or shrimp directly from the members' dock. For fresh water fishing, there’s an abundance of large-mouth bass, catfish and crappie in the dozens of lagoons scattered throughout the plantation. Nature lovers especially enjoy the miles of walking and biking trails that weave their way from one end of the plantation to the other. Along the way, you can marvel at the majestic live oaks, stare at the soaring eagles searching for food, or watch in amazement as the alligators, egrets, and stately blue herons share a spot at the water’s edge. It’s all here. |
